Flood files for re-election to the U.S. House
LINCOLN - Rep. Mike Flood has filed for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
In a press release, he said there is work to do in Washington regarding the economy and southern border.
Flood said he has kept his promise “by standing against government overreach” and voting for a “comprehensive border security package.”
Flood: “I will keep up my work to lower housing costs by cutting government red tape, I will be an advocate for tax cuts for middle-class Americans and I will fight to secure the southern border and strengthen our national security.”
Flood was a guest at a housing summit sponsored by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce. Flood commended Columbus for its construction of workforce housing.
In his keynote address, Flood said he requested to be on a congressional housing subcommittee because affordable housing and workforce housing are a top issue from Columbus to Plattsmouth.
Flood: “If you apply your resources to a district that is ready to grow and can be organized how can we develop some metrics to say what does success look like and success to me is letting the family that has a hard working husband to get into some kind of a house, so that he and his family start caring about property taxes, and the school district and they buy into the community.
“That is a win for Columbus and that’s a win for Nebraska. We can do that in Lincoln, we can do it in Cass County. We can do it in Sarpy, all the different counties. We could be a model for the rest of the nation.”
