Pickleball part of Williams Park improvements
City identifies area for downtown transformation
SYRACUSE – The Syracuse City Council has approved the first stage of Williams Park improvements, including pickleball and basketball courts.
City Engineer Justin Stark presented plans for the improvements at the January council meeting with a possible completion date in September of 2024.
Stark also presented a downtown infrastructure development agreement.
He presented a map showing three blocks of Fifth Street and side streets that are targeted for transformation over time. The city expects several meetings with the project team and communication with downtown businesses as the project moves forward.
Keeping the existing brick on main street, known history of the area and parking, lighting and streetscape concepts are key considerations.
