OMAHA, Neb. -- Authorities in the metro area are investigating an accident that killed a pedestrian Tuesday evening. 

The Omaha Police Department said accident investigators are investigating a fatal accident that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, who has not been identified yet. 

The accident happened at 13th and Interstate 80. Officers said they responded to the scene around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. 

When they responded, officers found a damaged Honda Odyssey and an injured pedestrian.

OPD said that based on the information, officers determined the man who was walking north on 13th St. near the eastbound on-ramp at I-80 was hit from behind by the Honda Odyssey. 

According to officers, the force of the impact threw the pedestrian into the island near the on-ramp. 

Our news partners at WOWT Channel 6 reported that OPD confirmed the victim to be dead at the scene, and there was no medical transport initiated.

The investigation is ongoing.
