SIDNEY, IA – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office reports an arrest in connection with a fireworks injury in September.
A sheriff’s office press release says Joseph Andrew Peeler, 38, of Hamburg is suspected of child endangerment causing injury following the fireworks incident near Farragut.
Deputies responded to a rural residence after a 911 call regarding a juvenile who had been injured by a firework. An 11-year-old boy was transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital with critical injuries and was then air lifted to a trauma center in Omaha.
Farragut Fire and Rescue, Shenandoah Fire and Rescue and the Iowa State Patrol also responded.
Media reports at the time said the boy was hurt by a commercially available artillery shell style firework.
