NEBRASKA CITY -- With overnight lows forecast around 23 degrees in southeast Nebraska, driving conditions could deteriorate rapidly.

The Nebraska City Airport reported temperatures hovering above freezing Sunday night into Monday morning. The temperature was reported at 35 degrees when the snow started here around 9 a.m. and never fell below 32 degrees through 3 p.m.

It resulted in wet streets and intersections and heavy, wet slush for plows to push aside.

Much of central and eastern Nebraska received from 4 to nine inches of snow, but the National Weather Service says areas like Nebraska City have been experiencing melting snow and less accumulation.

Overnight temperatures are forecast at 23 degrees, which could result in icy roadways. A low of nine degrees is forecast on Tuesday.
