NEBRASKA CITY – Residents south of Nebraska City woke Tuesday morning to a water outage.
Consolidated Rural Water Districts 1 and 2 in Otoe County are reporting an overnight water leak. Although pumps are operating at full speed, the water loss is preventing the district from filling its water tower.
At least 70 people south of Nebraska City are without water until the leak is stopped.
There are four people out driving this morning looking for the leak.
The district asks anyone who notices running or standing water near the roads or a short distance into a field to call the 402-209-0001.
The water district website says pipes start to freeze around the 20 degrees mark.
