Update:

BEATRICE – It was a young Kansas woman who died in a two-vehicle collision north of Tecumseh, Nebraska… the day after Christmas.

 

The Johnson County Attorney’s office Thursday released the identity of the victim.  18-year-old Gracelynn Pellicotte, of Junction City, Kansas was a  passenger in one of the two vehicles that collided one-and-three-quarters miles north of Tecumseh. 

 

County law officers and emergency responders were sent to the scene at 1:33 p.m., Tuesday….along Nebraska Highway 50.

 

The two drivers were taken by ambulance to the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh.  Both the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol were investigating the accident.

TECUMSEH – Emergency crews were dispatched to a fatality, two-car accident on Highway 50 near the state prison Tuesday afternoon.

A sheriff’s deputy arriving on the scene requested extrication equipment. Johnson Fire and Rescue transported both drivers to the Johnson County Hospital. A passenger was declared dead.

As emergency crews were approaching a deputy warned that while the streets were wet in Tecumseh, the road became very slick on Highway 50 just north of town.

The Nebraska State Patrol assisted at the scene. The highway was re-opened at 4:51 p.m.

The Johnson County Attorney's Office issued the following statement: 

At approximately 1:33 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 the Johnson County Sheriff's Office received
a call regarding a two vehicle accident 1 ¾ miles North of Tecumseh. When emergency services arrived,
they found one occupant of a vehicle deceased. The two drivers were transported by ambulance to the
Johnson County Hospital. Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the incident.
