Nebraska City adds two police officers

NEBRASKA CITY – Mayor Bryan Bequette swore in two new Nebraska City police officers Monday.
Joshua Briley and William Barnes will bring the police force up to 15 when they complete law enforcement training in April.
Bequette: “We’re blessed we continue to have young men and women step forward and serve the illustrious blue line and put it out there for all of us to keep us safe.”
Cpt. Lonnie Neeman introduced the men.

Barnes grew up in South Carolina and moved here with his family five years ago.
Neeman: “I’m proud he came to Nebraska City and decided he wanted to set down roots.”
His wife Briana pinned on his badge.

Briley has worked in corrections with the state of Nebraska and in Madison County. His dad Deputy Sheriff Brian Briley pinned on his badge.
Briley: “My dad held this badge number several years ago when he first started with the police department. I’m lucky enough to be able to hold that badge now.”
