Earthquake swarm south of Guide Rock in 2017
GUIDE ROCK - The US Geological Survey reports an earthquake in south central Nebraska Sunday afternoon.

The Guide Rock quake occurred in the Central Nebraska Basin, which was not studied as an earthquake threat in 2018. The report did not show any earthquakes Webster and Nuckolls counties since 1867, but there was an earthquake in Clay County in the 1980s. However, the earthquake swarm in 2017 was south of the border in Kansas.
Recent seismic activity in the region include an earthquake in Bennington, Kan., on Dec. 8 and Dec. 7.
A 3.0 magnitude quake was reported in Wakonda, SD., on Dec. 10.
