Omaha father arrested after child murder

OMAHA, Neb. -- OPD said they arrested an Omaha father in connection to a child murder.
The Omaha Police Department said officers were sent to the 1100 block of N 31st Ave. around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a shooting.
Officers said they found 10-year-old Kendrick McDonald with a gunshot wound and transported him to a nearby hospital where he later died.
According to authorities, 47-year-old Will McDonald, Kendrick's father, was arrested for criminal homicide, use of a weapon-gun, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided by OPD.
