Ten Bobcat Cross Country Runners Nab NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honors


PERU, NE - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes on Thursday, November 16. The Peru State women's cross country team had three athletes earn the award.
Student-Athletes must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached the eligibility requirements and been at their institution for a year to be qualified for the award.
Sarah Davis-Kovarik, a senior from Palmyra, NE, and and Isabella Watkins, a senior from Omaha, NE, earned the honor for the second year in a row.
Naomi Wilson (Sr., Council Bluffs, IA), Emma Larson (Jr., Omaha, NE) Madison Wittwer (Jr, Columbus, NE), Lydia Lang (So., Palmyra, NE) and Phoebe Wilson (So., Council Bluffs, IA) all earned the award for their first time.
The Peru State men's cross country team had three athletes earn the award.
Gavin Smith, a junior from Omaha, earned the honor for the second year in a row. Benjamin Klemesrud, a sophomore from Bassett, NE, and Brandon Kristensen, a sophomore from Wausa, NE, also earned the award for the first time.
