Huskers use big second half to top Stony Brook, improve to 4-0
LINCOLN, Neb - Nebraska picked up another win on Wednesday to complete a 4-0 start to the year.
The Huskers topped Stony Brook 84-63, behind a 19 point effort from Juwan Gary in his first game of the year. Those 19 points from Gary tied his career high. Rienk Mast also reached double figures with 14 points and tied his career high with five assists.
The Huskers led by just eight at half, but would start the second half on a 10-2 run and pull away from the Seawolves to pick up the win. Brice Williams scored 16 of his 17 points in the second half to help the Huskers.
Fred Hoiberg provided his thoughts after the win.
"I thought we were really efficient inside the arc," Head Coach Fred Hoiberg said. "Thought we played with really good pace, as far what we're capable of, we can't be satisfied with what happens so far, we have a big one on Saturday, so we need to have two solid days of preparation."
With the win, Nebraska starts the year 4-0 for the first time since the 2018-2019 season. Nebraska takes on Oregon State at The Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday night.
