Nehawka man ordered to pay bank $500,000
Balfour sentenced in federal court
OMAHA - A Nehawka man has been ordered to pay over $500,000 in restitution and spend 30 days in prison for bank fraud.
Nolan Balfour, 34, will pay the restitution to First Nebraska Bank, where he signed a promissory note to finance farming operations.
Prosecutors say Balfour secured loans by giving the bank financial statements that overstated his assets.
The FBI investigated the case after the assets became an issue in a 2018 bankruptcy filing.
