Pioneers opt to C-1 for two seasons
Nebraska City joins Auburn, Syracuse and Falls City in C-1 football

NEBRASKA CITY - The Nebraska City School Board voted 9-0 Oct. 9 to opt down for football classification in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons.
The Pioneers will compete in Class C-1 football.
Nebraska City had 170 boys enrolled this year, compared to 243 for Schuyler which also opted to C-1.
Plattsmouth has 184 boys enrolled, Blair 263 and Class B’s Hastings had 421.
Other Class C1- schools are Auburn with 100 boys enrolled, Syracuse with 90 and Falls City with 89.
Board minutes say the decision would be revisited if the NSAA makes classification changes.
