JOHNSON, NE - Johnson-Brock advanced to the third round of the Class D2 playoffs with a solid 36-14 win over Anselmo-Merna on Friday.

The Eagles scored on all but one drive in the first half, while the Coyotes were unable to get on the scoreboard and trailed at halftime, 30-0. Anselmo-Merna's longest drives of the half ended on turnovers, including Casen Dalinghaus grabbing an interception at the goal line for his second pick of the half. Anselmo-Merna also lost a fumble in the first half.

Johnson-Brock scored on the first drive of the second half to start the running clock, but Anselmo-Merna responded with their first score of the game to nix that, but it wasn't enough. The second half saw just five possessions combined, including one that was a simple kneel down for the Eagles to end it.

JB was led by Sloan Pelican on offense, as the senior quarterback ran for two scores and threw for another pair - both to Chase Van Winkle. Hayden Gravatt added the other Eagles TD on the ground.

AM's senior QB, Quinten Myers ran and threw for single scores in the final quarter. He connected with Caden Coufal with just 36 seconds left to wrap up the scoring and give the senior Coufal his only score of the season.

Johnson-Brock will host eight-seed Sandhills/Thedford on Friday, November 3, in the Class D2 quarterfinals.
