Syracuse approves cemetery improvements

SYRACUSE - Park HIll cemetery will be seeing some changes to its south side. The trees will be removed, a fence erected, and an arched gate will be placed at the entrance. This will be completed over the next several months as the weather permits.
In the utility department, Superintendent Vogt will be researching a new bucket truck. The softener house will be re roofed.
Justin Stark of Olsson updated the mayor and council on the Swanson Drive project. It is moving along as planned.
Nuisance property ordinance was amended to streamline the process.
The Board of appeals/ Board of Adjustments committee was approved. The board consists of Chris Wallman, Dee Dee Staack, Charley McWIlliams, Ken Parde and Dallas Haynes.
A Halloween parade, organized by 1st grade teacher Jenny Janssen will be Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. The parade will line up at 5th and Chestnut streets.
With a new face at the library, Melissa Juilfs has made many improvements.
Membership is up, 72 in 2022 to 122 in 2023, Renewals 280 in 2022 to 354 in 2023.
Circulation totals are at 10,562 up from 8,944 in 2022.
