NORFOLK - All hail broke loose Friday night, but Mother Nature and a furious Lutheran High Northeast comeback attempt couldn't keep Plainview from staying undefeated in a 28-20 Pirate win.

Plainview came firing on all cannons in the first quarter, with Ty Diedrichsen scoring on the ground and Spencer Hille through the air en route to a 14-0 Pirate lead at the end of one. That's when nature's fury put a halt to the action, as hail blanketed the field during a near two-hour lightning delay.

The Eagles used the time off to reload, with Landon Johnson hitting Braden Feddern for a 17-yard score, nearly cutting the deficit in half 14-6. But the Pirates bounced back with two more scoring tosses from Gage Walton to Hille to extend the Plainview advantage to 28-6.

LHNE showed no quit, as Feddern bounced off tacklers on 4th-period scoring runs of 44 and 54 yards to make it a one-possession game, 28-20. It looked like the game was destined for overtime, with Feddern dashing for an apparent 67-yard TD, but it nullified on a holding penalty, and the Eagles would not threaten again.

Plainview (6-0) heads home next week to host Summerland, while Lutheran High (4-2) hits the road to Tilden to take on Elkhorn Valley.
