PERU, NE - Peru State women's basketball head coach Jason Smith has recently hired Michael Sybrant as its next assistant coach.
 
Sybrant was most recently the assistant women's basketball coach at NCAA DII South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, S.D
 
While Sybrant was at South Dakota School of Mines he was the recruiting coordinator, he made a recruiting calendar for the coaching staff, players evaluations, recruiting calls, campus visits, film evaluations, recruit emails and off-campus contacts as permitted.
 
During game days he kept track of operational stats and suggested different adjustments and schemes during gameplay.
 
Sybrant was the team's travel coordinator and video editor. He created film clips of opponents and of the team's games to show during film sessions.
 
He also produced opponent scouting reports by looking at opponent tendencies and provided the head coach with a game plan.
 
Sybrant has had other college stops as the assistant coach at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, and the assistant at Upper Iowa University in Fayette.
 
He also has administrative experience at the high school level as the Assistant Athletic Director at West Holt Public Schools in Atkinson, Nebraska and Dodge Public Schools in Dodge, Nebraska.
 
Sybrant got his basketball career started as a graduate assistant at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Sybrant has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
 
The Peru State women's basketball team opens its season on Wednesday, November 1, at Haskell Indian Nations University. Tip-Off is set for 5:00 p.m.
