PERU, NE - Peru State baseball head coach Blake Beaber has recently hired Chris Stout as assistant coach.
 
Stout was most recently the assistant (Associate Head) and pitching coach at NCAA DIII Grinnell College from 2020-2023. Stout was responsible for managing a 22-person pitching staff in all aspects of training.
 
He created a pitching plan and rotation for weekend and midweek matchups while also maintaining pitch counts and bullpens between starts and games thrown with the help of usage charts.
 
Stout has recruited on the national level, regional level, scouted high school games, travel ball summer games, and attended academic camps.
 
He has used data for scouting reports on previous matchups, livestream game feeds for in-game analysis of batters and pitchers' approach.
 
Stout worked at the collegiate level at three other stops including stints at Marietta College and North Carolina Wesleyan College.
 
He has also coached at the high school level, he was at North Pitt High School in North Carolina as the pitching and infield coach and the assistant varsity head, JV and Head freshman coach at Nevada High School in Iowa.

Stout has worked in the professional realm as well with the White Sands Pupfish Independent Professional Baseball team in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
 
Through his years as a baseball coach Stout has coached many players who have received high accolades such as breaking the school record for strikeouts in a season at Grinnell College in 2022 and 2023. He was the pitching coach for the 2019 Southern League Champions Great Lakes League. Stout was the pitching coach for the Pitt County Pitcher of the Year and the pitching coach for the Mid-Iowa Pitcher of the Year.
 
Stout while coaching at the high school level was the pitching coach for the single season win record at Nevada High School, most successful back-to-back seasons in school history in 2012 and 2013. 2011 State tournament champion , 2011 DMBL Pitcher of the Year and four-time DMBL Champion.
 
Stout played two years at Marshalltown Community College pitching in 42 games over two seasons. He pitched for two years at Ashford University pitching in 34 games through two seasons. Four years he pitched in a summer college league with the Slater Nitehawks and received a Pitcher of the Year award. Stout also pitched two years professionally in a Professional Independent league and led the team in and broke the single season record for appearances.
 
He has also been part of illustrious camps such as the Stanford University All-Star Baseball camp in Pao Alto, California. Stout worked in all three areas the camp consists of on field coaching, evaluating and practice instructor.

Stout has a bachelor's degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College.
 
Peru State baseball will begin its 2024 season this January in a three-game set at Friends University starting on Friday, January 26. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
