Library taking reservations for Longmire writer

NEBRASKA CITY - The Morton-James Public Library is taking registrations for an Oct. 7 appearance of the author of the Sheriff Walt Longmire novel series.

Craig Johnson, who released his latest book, The Longmire Defense, on Sept. 5, is also appearing at libraries in Seward and Beatrice over the weekend.

Registrations are required for the limited seating at the library's Kimmel Gallery at 2 p.m.

Johnson, who lives in Ucross, Wyo., is recipient of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for fiction. His novel series is the basis of the Netflix original series Longmire.

Craig Johnson, best known for his Sherriff Walt Longmire novel series will be speaking at Morton-James Public Library on October 7 at 2 pm in the Kimmel Gallery.  The series is the basis for the hit Netflix original series Longmire. He is the recipient of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for fiction, and his novella Spirit of Steamboat was the first One Book Wyoming selection. He lives in Ucross, Wyoming population 26.  Due to limited seating at MJPL, reservations are required, but tickets are free.  Make reservations by calling 402-873-5609.

Johnson’s appearance is in partnership with Seward Public Library and Beatrice Public Library where he will also be visiting that weekend. Library Director Donna Kruse said “Becky Baker Director of Seward Public asked if we were interested in the opportunity and I said yes.  We are incredibly lucky to have Mr. Johnson appear so close to the book’s release. The Longmire Defense was just released September 5th. Please make sure to call MJPL to make your reservations for his Nebraska City appearance. He’ll be appearing at Beatrice Public Library earlier on the 7th and in Seward on October 8“.
