OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha man was sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison for a child pornography conviction.

Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said 35-year-old Alberto Mejia, of Omaha, was sentenced in federal court in Omaha on Friday. He was convicted for possession of child pornography. Mejia will serve 90 months in prison with a five-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system. Mejia has to pay restitution in the amount of $6,000.

According to court documents, law enforcement used a search warrant at Mejia’s Omaha home on May 17, 2022, for an ongoing assault investigation.

Officials said multiple digital devices were taken from the residence, including Mejia’s cell phone.

Authorities said they found several videos and images of minors under the age of 12 engaged in sexually explicit conduct on Mejia's phone.

This case was investigated by the Bellevue Police Department.
