OMAHA - Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has issued a smoke advisory for eastern Nebraska through Saturday, Aug. 19.
There is a potential for moderate to unhealthy air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. The advisory lists Columbus, Fremont, Norfolk, Lincoln and Omaha.
The National Weather Service reports smoke from wildfires spreading across much of the Great Lakes Thursday afternoon and says smoke will cover Minnesota on Friday.
Heavy plumes of smoke have been pooling and building up from fires in the Northwest Territories and shifting wind is pulling it all southward.
