OMAHA, Neb. -- Douglas County authorities say they are investigating cannabis stores in the metro area for selling products that have more than the allowed percentage of THC.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said they got information about cannabis stores potentially selling products that were more than the .3% THC that is allowed by law.

The DCSO narcotics unit said they purchase an item from a '402 Smoke Shop & Vapes' location, and it was sent for testing.

The item reportedly tested above the legal limit.

DCSO said that as a result, a search warrant was served at the location the item was bought for to further the information.

Law enforcement has worked together with DCSO were members of the Omaha Police Department, Bellevue Police Department, Papillion Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office in this investigation.

DCSO said they, along with the partner agencies, recognize this case as a dangerous consumer protection issue. They said customers that are buying these products need to know that they could be getting items that contain THC that is above the legal limit and may impair their judgement or ability to operate a motor vehicle.
