NEBRASKA CITY, NE - The final day of the B1 Senior Legion Baseball Tournament saw a nailbiter in the semifinal contest and a dominant run-rule victory in the title game Tuesday.

In the opener, Nebraska City jumped ahead of Auburn with a pair of runs in the top of the first. The Bulldogs replied with four runs in their half of the inning to flip that two-run lead. The host squad put their own four-spot on the board in the third to regain that two-run edge before Auburn tied things in the bottom of the fifth. Auburn took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth, holding on for a 7-6 win to make the title game.

Jackson Warner was stout for Auburn out of the bullpen, going five innings and surrendering just three hits with a strikeout, a walk, and a hit batter for the win. Hayden Coyle went two frames for NC, giving up just the one run on four hits with two K's and two BB's in defeat. Offensive highlights included Coyle going 2/3 with a double and an RBI, and Auburn's Braden Gerdes finishing 1/2 with a double and four RBI.

With the win, Auburn drew Plattsmouth in the B1 Championship Game. The two teams had split their two contests this season, including an extra-inning 9-7 win for Auburn the night before. After getting to the Plattsmouth arms for nine runs in each of those two battles, Auburn's bats would get held in check by Gabe Villamonte this time as the Blue Devils punched their ticket to the State Tournament in run-rule fashion, 9-0.

Villamonte threw the full five innings, allowing four singles and striking out five for the win. Ozey Hurst got the loss, getting roughed up for all nine runs (five earned) on seven hits & five walks. Auburn's defense didn't do Hurst any favors, as they committed five errors - three in the first inning alone. Sam Campin had a 2/3 game with a run scored & a double, while Gage Olsen went 1/2 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Plattsmouth takes their 22-5 record to Pierce to begin play in the State B Tournament this Saturday. Auburn's year closes out at a mark of 15-14.
