KEARNEY, Neb. -- People in Buffalo County now have a better way to monitor what's going on with first responders.

The Kearney Police Department and Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office transitioned to a trunked radio system for public safety communications in November. Since then, people weren't able to listen to radio traffic without getting special equipment.

In an effort to provide a free, live police scanner feed to the community, officials have made a scanner feed available through Broadcastify.

Both police and sheriff's office primary radio traffic is now being shared with Broadcastify through a scanner link directly from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center. Fire department radio traffic is also on the channel.

A link is provided on both the city and county websites.
