WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer announced a key step in funding for a $25 million agriculture Research Service facility at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

A funding bill was advanced by the Senate’s Appropriations Committee for a vote in the Senate.

The bill includes $25 million for precision agriculture, $3 million for the U.S. Drought Monitor and $1 million for a national framework to process agricultural data.

Fischer also announced the advancement of a funding bill for Offutt Air Force Base construction.

$5 million would establish a POW/MIA accounting agency, $7 million would replace vehicle search facilities and $3 million would build a base operations center.

Sen. Fischer also advocated for a National Guard Readiness Center in Bellevue and maintenance shop in North Platte.

Sen. Fischer pushed for $140 million to support the Sentinel Program, which she describes as the most complex weapons system in recent U.S. history. The project involves the U.S. Air Force replacing ballistic missiles with Sentinel Intercontinental ballistic missiles.
