NEBRASKA CITY -  Northside Principal Brent Gaswick submitted his resignation at Monday’s school board meeting.

In the letter, he said he is grateful for the opportunity to be principal the past six years.

School board minutes: “Second, I would like to apologize to the students, staff and parents at Northside for the situation that I have put them in with my actions.”

He also apologized to the school board for embarrassment caused by his “current family issue.”

A Lancaster County court document says police were called to a Lincoln residence on June 6. Police were told that Gaswick stood in a doorway in a residence and hip-checked a woman as she passed through. Police say they observed an abrasion near the woman's elbow.

Gaswick was cited under a Lincoln municipal ordinance for a misdemeanor. A police affidavit says Gaswick said there had been an argument, but he denied any assault. The woman joined Gaswick in a motion to remove a no contact order between the two.
