Citing 'love for home,' Bahl announces transfer from Oklahoma
The ace of Oklahoma's past two national championship softball teams is transferring, and she appears to be heading back to her home state.
PAPILLION, Neb. -- A Nebraska native is leaving a softball dynasty with an eye on a new landing spot.
Papillion-La Vista grad Jordy Bahl announced on Twitter Monday that she is transferring from three-time defending national champion Oklahoma.
As the Sooners' ace the past two seasons, Bahl compiled a 44-2 pitching record with a 1.00 career ERA.
She also hit .350 in two seasons in Norman, including a .406 batting average as a sophomore.
"For the last two years, despite the amazing opportunities and accomplishments, my love for home and the acknowledgement of my foundation have grown," Bahl said in her tweet. "Being away from these things has been very tough."
Although Bahl did not specify her transfer destination, a source told ESPN that she is expected to transfer to Nebraska. The Huskers last reached the Women's College World Series in 2013.
"Jordy shared with our staff on Friday that she has been feeling a strong need to be closer to home for quite some time and that she planned to enter the transfer portal," Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gusso said in a statement. "It was a very candid and emotional conversation in which we both communicated our love and support for each other."
