NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. - Nebraska City's Cael Kreifel committed to play baseball Wednesday night at Northeast Community College.

Kreifel has been a mainstay in the Pioneers lineup throughout his career slugging six home runs over the last two spring seasons while posting a team-best .479 batting average during the 2022 season.

The senior was second on the team with eight doubles in 2023 and tied for the team lead with three home runs. Kreifel played multiple positions on defense and proved to be a solid arm on the mound when called upon.

Kreifel finished his senior campaign with a 4-1 record on the bump, striking out a team-high 61 batters in 39 innings.

Kreifel announced his commitment over social media and thanked a whole host of people in a Twitter post.

"First off, I would like to thank my family for always supporting me throughout my baseball journey. I would also like to thank my coaches--without any of them this wouldn't be possible," Kreifel said. "Lastly, my friends for always pushing me to be the best version of myself."

Kreifel will play for Hawks head coach Marcus Clapp and joins a very successful junior college program that played its first ever season in 2017-18. In 2019--the programs second season in existence--Northeast qualified for the NJCAA DII World Series.

Northeast finished 39-20 this past season.
