Memorial weekend activities for River Country

Memorial Day services begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Memorial Wall in Plattsmouth near the courthouse. A 9 a.m. presentation is planned at the Horning Cemetery and a flag raising is planned at 9:30 at the Grand Army of the Republic section of Oak Hill Cemetery.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2543 will raise a flag at 11 a.m.
HUMBOLDT – Humboldt has activities planned through the Memorial Day weekend beginning with a community barbecue and ice cream social Friday at the fire hall.
Saturday events include the Quad County Museum, alumni banquet and street dance.
Church services are planned at the Southeast Nebraska Memorial Cancer Garden on Sunday.
A Memorial Day service is planned 11 a.m. Monday at the City Square Park.
AUBURN - A Memorial Day ceremony is scheduled at Auburn’s Legion Memorial Park band shell at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Retired Master Gunnery Sgt. Peter Wilson of the U.S. Marines is the featured speaker. He is a Marine violinists and the former senior enlisted music advisor to the White House.
The program also includes wreath laying three volleys, memorial salute and Taps.
NEBRASKA CITY – Memorial Day Services are scheduled at Wyuka Cemetery beginning at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day. Blue Star Mothers will lay wreaths at the cemetery, Otoe County War Memorial and the Missouri River. The speaker is from Offut Air Force Base.
PERU - The Peru Cemetery Auxiliary pancake feed is from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Peru City Hall.
FALLS CITY - The Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad is hosting an open house for EMS week. Hot dogs, hamburgers and kids games are scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27.
NEHAWKA - The Village of Nehawka presents the first annual Tractor and Antique Machinery Show at the Historic Nehawka Library from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 28.
