Tornado-producing storm describes as 'land hurricane'

A storm that produced at least 12 tornadoes in a 316-mile line from Logan County to Pawnee County Monday.
Radar images of the storm show cloud formations that appear similar to a land hurricane.

1:07 p.m. – Tornado watch issued for 47 Nebraska counties including all of Southeast Nebraska.
1:40 p.m. – Tornado warning in Logan County. 1:39 p.m. – severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 16 miles north of Ringghold and 17 miles southwest of Thedford, moving at 20 mph.
1:49 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm located along a line east of Greeley, Neb., moving northwest at 40 mph.
3:04 p.m. – tornado warning for Platte County.
3:06 p.m. – tornado warning until 3:30 p.m. for Merrick and Polk counties. Radar indicates thunderstorm capable of producing tornado near Silver Creek, 15 miles southwest of Columbus.
3:24 p.m. – Tornado warning for Nance County.
3:26 p.m. – Tornado warning for Merrick, Nance, Polk counties.
3:28 p.m. – storm chaser reports 1.25 inch hail south of Malcolm. Public reports dime-sized hail near Denton.
3:29 p.m . – Tornado warning for Boone, Madison and Platte counties until 4:15 p.m. Extended 4:30 p.m.

3:44 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm warning for Lancaster, Seward and Butler counties.
4:42 p.m. – Severe thunderstorm at Malcolm, 10 miles northwest of Lincoln.
3:49 p.m. – storm chaser reports tornado west of Humphrey and Platte Center.
3:51 p.m. – Thunderstorm cells forming at Tecumseh and Pawnee City.
4:04 – Severe thunderstorm warning for Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson counties until 4:45 p.m. Radar indicates severe thunderstorm four miles south of Pawnee City, moving north at 30 mph.
4:26 p.m. – tornado warning for Johnson, Nemaha and Pawnee counties.
NWS: radar indicates tornado near Pawnee City moving north at 30 mph. Expected at Elk Creek around 4:45 p.m.

4:43 p..m. Funnel cloud up and down between Pawnee City and Humboldt
4:45 p.m. – Nemaha County storm spotters activated.
4:47 p.m. – storm spotters in Johnson County
4:48 p.m. – firefighters report funnel cloud not touching the ground near Table Rock.
4:52 p.m. – Tornado warning until 5:15 p.m. four southeast Johnson, SW Nemaha and NE Pawnee counties. Confirmed tornado located over Table rock moving NE at 20 mph.
4:55 p.m. – Storm chasers report 4-inch tree limbs down. Storm spotters says 2.75 inch hail near Table Rock. Public reports half-dollar size hail southwest of Table Rock.
5:07 p.m. – Atchison County – Rock Port in thunderstorm watch.
5:09 p.m. – tornado near Norfolk.
