Sharon Rae Meyer, age 83 of Nebraska City died May 6, 2023 at CHI St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.  Sharon was born June 18, 1939 in Nehawka, the daughter of Ray Leo and Dorothy Avis (Shrader) Ehlers.  She married Kenneth Meyer August 15, 1959 in Weeping Water and formerly lived in Avoca, Omaha and Wichita Falls, TX before moving to Nebraska City in 1984.  She was a secretary in the Otoe County Veterans Service Office for several years prior to her recent retirement.  Sharon was a member of the First Christian Church and Elizabeth Chapter #250 Eastern Star, both in Weeping Water.  She was devoted to family and friends and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Sharon loved nature, reading, listening to music, and Nebraska Football.  Survivors include her son, Keith (Cathy) Meyer of Collinsville, TX; daughter, Monica (Andy) Oestmann of Auburn; grandchildren, Amanda Meyer, Tyler Richey, Alicia Steed, and Julia Meyer; great grandchildren, Landen Camacho, Ryleigh, Kinlee, Blakley and Charli Kate Steed, Ava Richey, and Aria Richey; sister, Nancy Ehlers; sisters in law, Marleen Orndorff, Amy Meyer, and Evelyn Ehlers; many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Richard Ehlers; brothers in law, Carl Orndorff and Russ Meyer.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Weeping Water First Christian Church with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Nehawka.

 

Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 Monday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
