NEBRASKA CITY – Nearly 50 firefighters were involved in brush and timber fire north of Nebraska City near the Missouri River.

Nebraska City firefighters were dispatched at 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Six units and 12 firefighters from Dunbar and three units and eight firefighters from Sidney provided mutual aid.

Firefighters were on scene for six hours.

Cass County firefighters worked a field fire on Saturday.

Cassgram reports that fire departments from Murdock, Elmwood. Louisville, Weeping Water, Manley, Avoca and Nehawka worked together in fighting the pesky fire that was first reported in a corn stubble field at 1:30pm. Flames were spread by 35 mph wind gusts.

Radio reports indicate the fire involved a double-sized garage before it was out after two hours.
