OMAHA, Neb. -- Authorities said they have a man in custody following a standoff in Omaha.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said they were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call in the area of 188th and Blondo St. around 6:50 p.m.
DCSO said that when the first deputy arrived, he met with the victim outside the home.
Shortly after meeting with the victim, the deputy reportedly heard a gunshot from within the house.
According to authorities, the deputy retreated behind his cruiser for safety and waited for backup.
DCSO said a bullet defect was seen in a front window of the house.
After an hour long standoff, DCSO said that a 39-year-old man eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
The man was reportedly placed into emergency protective custody while the investigation continued.
DCSO deputies on scene said they did a thorough investigation and it was determined that a single round was fired through the front window in the direction of the first arriving deputy.
Officials said that during a search of the residence they found two handguns, ammunition and a spent 40 caliber shell casing.
According to DCSO, the family members of the man said he is a military veteran who suffers from PTSD.
It did appear the subject was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, according to the Sheriff's Office.
DCSO said the subjects name will not be released at this time.
Authorities said that the home has had an extensive 911 call history since 2019.
This is an ongoing investigation.
