FALLS CITY -  Falls City Public Schools are updating the High Ability Learner program in 2024 by establishing building coordinators.

The program is currently run by a single person, but the school will be establishing coordinators at the South Middle School and High School.

Superintendent Tim Heckenlively said the move will allow the school to offer more programming for its HAL students and provide programming throughout the year.

The National Junior Honor Society gave a presentation at Monday’s school board meeting.

The program utilizes Project Citizen curriculum, which encourages students to identify problems in the world around them and gather information about solutions.

Student presenters included Dayton Snethen, Bowdy Jones, Gabi Young and Jazzy Strecker.

In other action, the board approved its video surveillance policy. The policy allows cameras on school buildings and vehicles to ensure people’s welfare, safeguard property and maintain student discipline.

Video recordings may be used for student or employee disciplinary action or for making reports to law enforcement.
