New summer banners arrive at Auburn
Auburn sales tax collections continue at record pace
AUBURN - The Auburn Chamber of Commerce displayed new summer banners at Monday’s city council meeting.
The banners are funded by the city and designed by Merz Ink.
Chamber Director Leslie Clark said the summer banners display something unique to Auburn.
Clark: “They are going to look beautiful across 75 and 136, we’ll see them up on the square and all around.”
Auburn sale tax receipts continue at record pace since October.
For five of the first six months in the current fiscal year, Auburn sales taxes have been at record highs.
Sales tax collected last September and received in November of 2022 was the highest ever for Auburn at $58,962.
Collections in January of this year were received in March at $54,068, which is the highest January collection on record.
So far, Auburn has collected $42,228 more than last year.

Auburn Mayor Chris Erickson proclaimed April 28 as the Arbor Day celebration. Arbor Day holiday was established in 1872 and is observed throughout the nation.
The proclamation says trees can be a solution to climate change by reducing erosion of topsoil, cutting heating and cooling costs, moderating temperature and cleaning the air.
