Judge describes allegations as terrifying home invasion
NEBRASKA CITY – Jeremy Kudron, 46, of Lincoln was sentenced Monday to 15 to 20 years in prison after entering a no contest plea to burglary.
Kudron was arrested in June after a resident near the Table Creek Golf Course told investigators Kudron entered her house despite a protection order and assaulted her.
At sentencing, Judge Julie Smith listed Kudron’s criminal record and described the incident in June as a home invasion.
Smith: “There were terrifying circumstances to say the least.”
The judge said she read a letter from the victim where the victim described feelings of fear for herself and her children.
Public Defender Michael Ziskey said the protection order had been mutually violated with text messages and meetings. He said there was no evidence of a break-in at the residence and that the case most likely would have went to trial had the state not increased the risk with a habitual criminal charge.
As part of a plea agreement, the habitual criminal charge was dropped, along with charges of false imprisonment and attempted sexual assault.
Kudron was sentenced to an additional six months for domestic assault and violation of a protection order.
With credit for 299 days already served, the judge said Kudron will serve under eight years before he is eligible for parole.
