OMAHA, Neb. -- Authorities in Omaha have arrested a 26-year-old in connection to a 2022 homicide.

The Omaha Police Department announced Sunday morning that it had arrested Kanesha Plater on Saturday for the death of Vincent Burns, who was killed in January of last year.

Plater has been booked for 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, OPD officials said Sunday.

Burns, who was 20 at the time of his death, was found killed by gunfire on N. 30th Street on Jan. 23, 2022. Two other people were injured in the incident.

Officers working off-duty at Jet Sports Bar requested additional officers at 11:50 p.m. after an unknown suspect fired a gun during a large disturbance that same evening.

Officers performed CPR on Burns until OFD medics arrived. Medics transported Burns to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he died.
