OMAHA, Neb. -- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and later pronounced dead in Omaha.

The Omaha Police Department said officers were dispatched to 32nd St. and L St. around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a personal injury crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Officers said a 2019 Honda Civic was traveling west on L St. and a pedestrian was crossing L St. at the intersection with 32nd St. A crosswalk is not reportedly marked at this area.

According to authorities, the vehicle hit the pedestrian as he was crossing. The pedestrian was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital by medics with the Omaha Fire Department and was later pronounced dead.

OPD said the pedestrian was 76-year-old John Gomez, of Omaha. 

The crash is currently under investigation.
