Mayor to declare 'Week of the Young Child'

FALLS CITY - The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Monday at city hall.
The agenda includes a request to allow issuance of open burn permits for residential yards and gardens and a request to amend the volunteer fire department bylaws.
Mayor Harkendorf is scheduled to declare “Week of the Young Child” April 1 to 7.
The proclamation recognizes the value of early childhood education, the dedication of child care providers and the partnership between Falls City Public Schools Sixpence and child care providers.
Mayor Harkendorf will fill the economic development seat on the housing board with Brian Daake.
Jon McQueen of the volunteer fire department requested a bylaw amendment that was previously approved by firefighters on March 13. The proposed article would allow electronic messaging.
The fire department also requests a day for open burning on Earth Day in April of 2023 or an alternate date.
The fire department would determine if moisture and atmospheric conditions are suitable for open burning for grass yards and gardens.
