Warehouse zoning, rail supersite on Falls City agenda tonight
FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. today.
The agenda includes conditional permits for a family child home care at 2615 Highland Ave. and another at 1807 Crook St.
A public hearing is scheduled to rezone 11 parcels to industrial to allow for a proposed 80x100-foot warehouse facility.
The city received a planning and zoning application on Jan. 9 from Dan Simon for Falls City Mercantile Co. distribution building. The 800-square-foot, single-story building is proposed on the 700 block between Stone and Chase streets.
MSKDJ requests liquor license for Brenner Airfield for hot air balloon festival from 2 p.m. on June 17 to midnight. Amber Holle estimates 2,500 attendees.
The city administrator’s report includes annexation discussions as outlined in the 2014 comprehensive plan.
City Administrator Anthony Nussbaum is working with Mayor Harkendorff and EDGE to engage interest in renovating the Rivoli Theater as a performance venue. Property owner Mitch Glaeser is offering the space to the city at no cost.
The city is also working with EDGE, Olsson and OPPD for master planning of a rail supersite. Master design concepts are expected to be completed in April of 2023.
