TECUMSEH – A sergeant at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institute was bound over Wednesday for trial on charges of first and third-degree sexual assault of a female guard he was supervising.

The 19-year-old corporal told a Nebraska State Patrol investigator that she had been grabbed and kissed by 33-year-old James Cherry.

She told the investigators the contact was unwanted and unprovoked, but she was afraid to report it because Cherry was her supervisor.

An arrest affidavit says she made a report after incidents continued. She alleges that Cherry forced his hand inside of her pants.

The affidavit says Cherry denies first degree sexual assault.
