Two arrested after Omaha pursuit
A David City man and an Omaha woman were arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol after a pursuit in Omaha.
OMAHA, Neb. -- A David City man and an Omaha woman were arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol after a pursuit in Omaha.
NSP said a trooper saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee reportedly speeding west on Dodge Expressway at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officials said the trooper tried to do a traffic stop but the driver reportedly refused to stop and sped up. The trooper reportedly followed the Jeep, starting a pursuit near 132nd St. and Dodge St.
According to authorities, the Jeep traveled west and reportedly reached speeds over 100 mph. The Jeep reportedly exited Dodge St. and turned north onto 168th St and then turned east onto Blondo St.
Officers said the passenger threw a backpack out the window while they were on Blondo St. The Jeep reportedly stopped voluntarily at 156th St. and Blondo St. The pursuit lasted five minutes.
NSP said the driver was 25-year-old James Speicher, of David City, and the passenger was 31-year-old Sabrina Toole Harris, of Omaha. They were both taken into custody and another trooper found the backpack that was thrown from the vehicle.
According to authorities, Speicher was arrested for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, and several traffic violations. Toole Harris was arrested for tampering with physical evidence. They both have been lodged in Douglas County Corrections.
