Larry D. Obermeyer, 62 of Syracuse, passed away on February 22, 2023 at his home in Syracuse. He was born on November 29, 1960 to LeRoy F. Sr. & Shirley (Ramold) Obermeyer in Syracuse. Larry graduated from Syracuse High School in 1979.

On October 6, 1984, he married Joan Carper at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Larry worked as a bartender for 30 years, and many people would tell you that he was the best. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and belonged to the Syracuse Coyote Hunting Club. Larry also enjoyed playing cards, watching football and gambling, for which he was known as “Lucky Larry”. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Joan Obermeyer; daughter Rachel (Kurt) Powles; son Ryan Shannon; grandchildren Mickenna Shannon, Quinn (Ansley) Shannon, Skylar DeSanti, Wade & Zoey Powles; great grandchildren Chancetin Shannon & Ripley Campbell; mother Shirley Obermeyer; siblings Butch (Lana) Obermeyer, Chris Mounce (Jeff Hahn), Lonnie (Susan) Obermeyer, Lisa (Greg) Berner; sister-in-law Charlotte (Jack) Shade; also nieces, nephews and many many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy Sr., grandparents Lawrence & Helen Ramold, Henry & Kate Obermeyer; In-laws Alvern & Agnes Carper; sisters-in-law Patricia & Dianna.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Luther Memorial Church, NE YouTube page.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, UNMC Cancer Center or the family’s choice.
