Students rate school high, but say Auburn livability lacking
Students suggest winter gathering places, restaurant options
AUBURN – Students presented results of a day-long visioning project held at Auburn High School asking what students like and dislike about their hometown and what it would take for them to live there after graduation.

Cailyn Erickson: “We really think that recreation is a big thing, especially for people in high school, middle school. Going off of that, in the winter time, there is nothing for us kids to do, like, to be all together. We want a building where we can hang out, have a good time, play games and all that kind of stuff.”
Erickson was joined by Morgan Judd and Anna Schlange who told the city council that places to meet, eat and recreate take priority for students.
Morgan Judd: “We had more .. we want more places to eat because it’s all mainly fast food, it’s not like restaurants. And, yeah, recreational places.”

Laura Osborne of the 4 County Collaborative said 20 students participated.
Erickson: “We have a safe community and a really good school environment and all of our teachers and staff care about us a lot, so we’re really appreciative of that.”
City Councilman Rick Janssen commended the students for their input.
