Snow forecast for River Country rising drastically today
3 to 5 inches forecast in winter weather watch expands to five to eight inches in latest storm warning<br/>
OMAHA - The National Weather Service has upgraded recent alerts to include southeast Nebraska in a winter storm warning.
Heavy snow is expected with accumulation of four to six inches. This is two to three inches more than forecast 24 hours ago.
AccuWeather is forecasting three to five inches with a 90 percent chance of snow overnight. The temperature is not forecast to rise above freezing on Thursday.
The storm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.
Patchy blowing snow and hazardous road conditions are expected. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are forecast for portions of the state.
Visit Nebraska 511 for road conditions. Early Wednesday afternoon, I-80 was closed from Cozad to 45 miles west of Kearney.
The weather station at Julian reported high winds around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Brenner Field at Falls City reported 33 mph wind gusts.
