NEBRASKA CITY – An Otoe County judge has issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in an electronic gaming fraud after he failed to appear in court Monday for sentencing.

Elroy Helmstadter, 45, of Lincoln was scheduled for sentencing for misdemeanor theft in January of 2022.

Prosecutors say he presented fake payout tickets for electronic gaming machines at Cubby’s Convenience Store at Syracuse.

An arrest affidavit says Trestle Gaming and Amusement Solutions reports that payout stubs do not line up with cash in the machines. The company say about $10,000 is unaccounted for.

Court records indicate an arrest warrant for Helmstadter in Lancaster County was recalled on Jan. 31.
