WASHINGTON D.C. – Nebraska officials from the governor’s office to U.S. Congress are slamming President Joe Biden’s final Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule claiming it dramatically expands federal oversight of America’s waterways.

A letter to the President objects to criminal penalties and financial hardship for failure to abide by “ever-changing” rules.

Gov. Jim Pillen signed a letter of two dozen governors asking the President to delay the new rule until the U.S. Supreme Court issues a decision this summer.

A press release from the governor’s office says the new WOTUS rule would expand the definition of “navigable waters” to include ponds, certain streams, ditches and other bodies of water under the Clean Water Act.
