TABOR, Iowa - It was a slow start out of the gates offensively, but Fremont-Mills eventually found its stride over the game's final three quarters, stiff arming Sidney most of the way in Friday night's 46-33 Corner Conference win at Lied Gymnasium.

Leading 7-3 after one, the Knight's (12-6, 8-3) scored back-to-back three-point plays midway through the second quarter. Then junior Ellie Switzer knocked down a right corner 3-pointer followed by a Teagan Ewalt 3-pointer to open up an 18-8 lead.

Turnovers were a major issue for Sidney, having seven in the first quarter. Five of those turnovers came in the game's opening three minutes as the Knights sat in passing lanes. Senior forward Kaden Payne tried her best to keep the Cowgirls in it with five first-half points despite foul trouble as the Knights took a 22-13 into the break.

Sidney (6-11, 2-6) began the second half on a 5-0 run when sophomore Ava Osborn splashed in a 3-pointer from the right wing along with a layup by Payne. Suddenly, the Cowgirls trailed just 22-18.

Ewalt raced down the floor on the ensuing possession and scored a floater in the lane to make it 24-18. From there, Ryleigh Ewalt got in on the action with a couple of nice maneuvers under the rim for baskets.

With two minutes left in the third, Teagan Ewalt blocked a shot at the rim which led to a Ryleigh Ewalt 3-pointer to cap a 12-2 run, pushing the lead to 34-22 after three.

It was more of the same in the fourth as Izzy Weldon--the Knights leading scorer--knocked down a 3-pointer, too. The Ewalts along with Weldon all finished with 11 points.

Sidney's leading scorer Avery Dowling was held at bay in the first half, but she scored six points in the second including a deep 3-pointer that cut the deficit to nine.

But FM was in the bonus late in the frame and Teagan Ewalt knocked down a pair at the line to make it 41-29 and from there it would add four more points to close the game.

Payne finished with a game-high 12 points for Sidney.
