Brian Lee Doty, age 66 of Sidney, IA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at his home unexpectedly. Brian was born in Nebraska City, NE on October 1, 1956, to Bill and Jeanne (Ballinger) Doty. He attended Sidney, IA schools and graduated in 1975. While in school he was active in all sports, holding many records.  Brian especially enjoyed football where he played quarterback and track, where he pole vaulted and ran the hurdles and hundred yard dash.  He participated in and won the Drake Relays for pole vaulting. 

 

Brian married Lori Handy and to them was born a daughter, Jina. He married Janet Gude (Ladd) and had two daughters Stephanie and Samantha. In 2005 Brian married Coleen Silence (Bohlen).  In 1976 he joined his dad in Doty's Body Shop. After Bill passed away, he became manager and later owner of the body shop.  Brian quickly became a well respected body man in the community and saw it his personal duty to ensure every customer received the best service possible.  This brought him faithful customers and friends far and wide.

 

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Bill; brother, Craig; infant brother, Roger; grandparents Lee and Pearl (McCord) Doty and Chester and Mildred (Bell) Ballinger; brother-in-law, John Kearns; and father-in-law Earl Silence.

 

He is survived by his wife, Coleen Doty and her daughter Carleen Stuck and husband Tim; daughters, Jina Sanders and husband Bill, Stephanie Doty and partner Kyle Bohlen, and Samantha Leseberg and husband Tel; thirteen grandchildren, mother, Jeanne Doty; siblings Brad Doty and wife Lori, and Carol Kearns; numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives, and friends. 

 

Brian’s life was marked by his love and loyalty to his family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by us all.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA with Mr. Jonathan Sanders and Mrs. Mary Margaret Schaffner officiating. Visitation will be at the Funeral Chapel Thursday January 19, 2023, after 5:00 PM, the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  Memorials will go to the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and interment will be in the Riverton, Iowa Cemetery.
